Mackenzie Announces Farmland Preservation in 131st District
August 22, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) is pleased to announce that the Pennsylvania State Agriculture Land Preservation Board has approved the preservation of a 27-acre crop farm in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, located in the 131st Legislative District. The farm is owned by Adam and Daniel Marsteller.
The preservation is part of a statewide effort to protect 2,017 acres on 33 farms in 16 counties from future residential or commercial development.
“Protecting farmland means protecting our future,” said Mackenzie. “The preservation of the Marsteller farm in our district not only safeguards productive agricultural land here in Lehigh County but also strengthens Pennsylvania’s farming heritage. By keeping farms in the hands of farm families, we ensure that the next generation will continue to benefit from the fresh food, open space and strong communities that agriculture provides.”
Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program has now safeguarded 6,597 farms and 656,568 acres across 58 counties. The program, established in 1988, enables state, county and local governments to purchase conservation easements from owners of quality farmland, guaranteeing that their land will remain available for agriculture.
