Mackenzie Announces Over $1.6 Million in Grant Funding for Public Safety, Infrastructure in 131st District

HARRISBURG – Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) announced today that $1,682,958 in Local Share Account Statewide Program funding has been awarded to municipalities and authorities in the 131st Legislative District for projects supporting public safety, infrastructure, and emergency services through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
“These grants will help our communities replace aging equipment, strengthen public safety, and improve essential municipal services that residents rely on every day,” said Mackenzie. “This funding supports responsible local planning and ensures our municipalities have the tools they need to operate safely and efficiently.”
Projects funded in the 131st District include:
• Coopersburg Borough received $62,000 to purchase and upfit a new police cruiser, modernizing its fleet to enhance traffic safety for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists.
• Lower Milford Township/Fire Company No. 1 received $57,692 to replace the HVAC system at the fire station, improving storage conditions for equipment and creating comfortable spaces for volunteer firefighters and community events.
• Marlborough Township received $62,962 to purchase a new police vehicle and $159,060 to purchase a new public works backhoe, supporting law enforcement and public works operations while reducing long-term maintenance costs.
• Salisbury Township received $663,733 for updated emergency services radio equipment, ensuring secure and reliable communication for local fire and police departments.
• Souderton Borough/Volunteer Medical Service Corps received $134,141 to purchase new cardiac monitors and defibrillator devices, enhancing emergency medical services across Souderton, Telford, Franconia, and Salford townships.
• Upper Hanover Township received $243,576 toward the purchase of a new dump truck to support roadway maintenance and public works operations.
• Upper Montgomery Joint Authority received $49,740 for vehicles and equipment and $121,326 for pump station improvements and the installation of a generator to improve system reliability and emergency preparedness.
• Upper Perkiomen Police Department, serving Pennsburg Borough, received $128,728 for equipment purchases and patrol vehicle support to strengthen local law enforcement operations.
The Local Share Account Statewide Program is funded through gaming revenues authorized under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act and administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The program supports projects that improve quality of life, enhance public safety, and strengthen infrastructure across Pennsylvania.
