Mackenzie Highlights $2.1 Million Available for School Safety

HARRISBURG – More than $2.1 million in School Safety and Mental Health Grant funding is now available for public schools and educational institutions serving the 131st Legislative District, according to Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh).
The funding can be used for physical security enhancements, behavioral health supports or both. Local public schools and educational institutions eligible to apply for the funding include:
Lehigh County:
• Carbon-Lehigh IU 21 – $70,000.
• East Penn School District – $449,924.
• Lehigh Career and Technical Institute – $70,000.
• Salisbury School District – $168,424.
• Southern Lehigh School District – $230,900.
• Arts Academy Charter School – $70,000.
Montgomery County:
• Souderton School District – $364,831.
• Souderton Charter School Collaborative – $70,000.
• Upper Perkiomen School District – $236,564.
• Western Montgomery Career and Technical School – $70,000.
Northampton County:
• Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School – $70,000.
• Colonial IU 20 – $70,000.
• Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Arts – $70,000.
• Saucon Valley School District – $185,820.
The 14 listed recipients have a combined $2.19 million in grant funding available to them through the program.
“I am glad these investments will be reaching these schools to help the students and staff members stay safe and healthy,” said Mackenzie.
The School Safety and Mental Health Grant Program provides funding to help public schools address safety and security needs, as well as support the behavioral health and well-being of students and staff.
